Lethbridge to Great Falls Transmission Line

PROJECT BRIEF

KLJ was responsible for verifying ground control, establishing aerial control, identifying route crossing conflicts, and construction staking of both the transmission line and substations. KLJ was also involved in the geotechnical surveys that aided the design team in determining structure locations. Route conflict surveys included working with the Department of Defense to identify possible missile communication lines that would be encumbered by the route.

SERVICE:

  • Telecommunications

SOLUTIONS

Part of KLJ's work scope was communication of survey and constructability solutions for the American side of the line. KLJ brought a Canadian partnership to the project for the survey services needed on the Alberta side of the line. Having local staff local allowed KLJ access to the areas to assist in design and provide valuable information critical to final structure determination.

RESULTS

The MATL line enabled the development of new wind-energy projects by linking this renewable and emission-free source of power to consumers across North America.
